Deja Vu

Deja Vu

Deja vu, defined as the experience of thinking that a new situation had occurred before (literally translated as ‘already seen’ in French), is something I have been asked about many times.

How often have you found yourself in a completely new situation, only to have your brain giving you a step by step replay BEFORE the events actually happen?

Most of us can say it has happened more than once. Very few of us can say we have never experienced deja vu.

WHAT IS DEJA VU?

So what is deja vu?

There are a ton of theories, and not much formal conclusion.

Scientific research blames it on an anomaly of memory, medically it has been linked with a variety of disorders – schizophrenia, epilepsy, anxiety and so on. Certain drugs are believed to increase the occurences of deja vu, and parapsychologists attribute it to reincarnation. Some even believe it is related to precognition.

Though I do not discount or discredit any of the above explanations, I do feel (as one who has had fairly regular bouts of deja vu), that a different explanation applies to most circumstances.

A SPIRITUAL EXPLANATION

Many Spiritualists (including myself) believe that ‘deja vu’ is one of Spirits’ (God, Angels, the Universe – whatever you want to call ‘it’) way of showing you that you are on track.

Though the pre-seen situation might be mundane in its presentation (a dinner or lunch with friends for example), the Universe wants you to know that you are on a good path – the path you would choose for yourself if you could clearly see all of your options (and there are many, believe me!).

‘They’ approve of your direction (and so do you!).

So, if you experience a moment of deja vu, stop for a second and take note. You could even feel a bit proud of yourself as this demonstration is an indication for you that good or bad, easy or difficult – you are on the right path. Congratulations!
